Sample ceremony
If you are wondering what a non-religious wedding ceremony looks like, then please email me
and I will send you a sample ceremony.  Please go to Contact Richard, complete the
information and click "submit".  I encourage couples to change the sample ceremony to suit
their needs and values.

Booking a date
If you decide you would like me to officiate your wedding, then you will need to secure the date
with me.  Upon receiving the deposit, I will email you a wedding package which will help with
your wedding preparation and the ceremony.  Once you have secured the date, I am available
in person, by phone or email to discuss any aspects of your wedding or the ceremony.

We need to meet
Normally, I meet with the couple two or three weeks before the wedding ceremony to obtain the
marriage licence from them, discuss the details of the wedding, the final wording of the
ceremony and have a small informal rehearsal.  A meeting allows us to get to know each other
and the couple can establish confidence in the officiant who is a part of their special day.  A
formal rehearsal is possible but not usually necessary. The marriage license is valid for 3
months from the date of issue and can be used for marriage in any Ontario location.  Please
refer to the City of Kingston's website for more information.

SECURE THE DATE
I am a long time resident of Kingston and a retired
high school teacher.  I am married with two children.

I was trained and appointed by Humanist Canada to
conduct wedding ceremonies.

I am licensed by the Province of Ontario to officiate
wedding ceremonies and enjoy helping couples
customize a ceremony that is personal, unique and
memorable.

I also officiate non-religious funerals, memorial
services, baby namings and other ceremonies of
significance.
Marriage joins two people who trust the love that they have found.  It is a partnership in which
each can grow and be their true selves, whilst sharing in the development of the other.
